I’m Helen Taylor, founder of Guns and Noses and LABRAlife, and for over 27 years I’ve been helping dogs and their humans build stronger, happier relationships through kind, reward-based training.
This membership was created for pet gundog owners who want clear, supportive guidance - without the overwhelm of endless online advice.
Here, you’ll find step-by-step lessons, encouragement, and expert insight to help you make real progress and enjoy training again.
Because when you understand your dog and train with empathy, everything starts to click.
As a proud member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT UK), a registered Gundog Club trainer, and an approved professional with Kids Around Dogs, I’m committed to high welfare standards and continuing education. I’m also a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor in companion and assistance dogs, with additional qualifications in Rehabilitation and Therapy (FdSc) and Small Animal Hydrotherapy - because understanding behaviour means understanding the whole dog.

Because I’ve been there to. I didn’t start out as an expert, at 16! I started as someone who loved dogs but didn’t always get it right. I’ve faced the same frustrations, setbacks, and “what am I doing wrong?” moments that you might be feeling right now.
Over the years, I’ve learned that progress doesn’t come from perfection - it comes from patience, understanding, and the right support.
That’s exactly what this community is built on. I know what it’s like to feel stuck, and I also know how incredible it feels when everything begins to fall into place.
